PaySure
A system for making the Paycheck accessible to everyone
kick-off
Paycheck verification app
This app scans and analyzes employees' paychecks to determine whether they are paid what they deserve. It also determines whether all their rights have been met. This is the final project for my UX certification studies.
The problem
Many emplyees are not familiar with labor laws and workers' rights, so they do not know what they deserve when validating their paychecks. In addition, some employees lack the necessary education, emotional appeal, time, or language skills to access this information.
The challenge
Building a system that creates a pleasant experience in our budget-managing, and reduces social gaps by drawing attention to employees' rights.

Research
user research
About 100 people from a variety of professions were surveyed via Google Forms:
39%
Do not check their paycheck every single month
60%
Do not check the paycheck because they don't understand it
49%
Of the unclear parts of the paycheck are related to deductions and income tax
I also interviewed five current and/or past employees between 29 and 59:
"I don’t tend to look for confrontations when it comes to my money."
"It’s such a soul-less, impersonal subject… Makes you feel like you are a screw in a machine."
"I hate dealing with that stuff so much that even if I lose some because of it – I don't care!"
benchmark
I conducted competitor research on the "Kol Zchut" website, HR software, and personal financial advisor tools. The following are some of the apps and websites I reviewed.

The research key takeaways
Too busy to care
The system will do all the “dirty job” for the users by automatically scraping the info out of his paycheck, processing it, and presenting the relevant insights.
Overwhelmed by information
The system will show the user only the specific info he wants to focus on and will provide him with simple explanations in “human language”.
Feel like a little screw in the system
The system will be personalized according to each users' details and needs and will take him “hand by hand” along the steps they’ll need to make.
personas

  • Unaware of what he doesn't know.
User’s goals
  • Saving the most money in the shortest time.
  • Understanding his pay check.
The paycheck "savvy"
User’s Pains
  • Precious time is spent on the manual tracking of payments she gets.
  • Feels she has already utilized all the knowledge and lacks motivation to learn more about her rights.
User’s goals
  • Understand how her wage is calculated.
  • Save as much money as fast as possible.

Design
PaySure's UI design was chosen for creating both visual signals and a pleasant experience for users in a sometimes stressful process. Also, I aimed for a light design to reduce the complexities associated with paychecks.

What did I learn?
1.
How to take an idea, make a draft out of it, apply a design, develop a prototype and present it.
2.
That although understanding the paycheck is a necessary skill, it is not a skill easy to acquire.
3.
"Even a journey of a 1,000 miles begins with one little step."
